About the Role
We are currently recruiting for our 2024/2025 Engineer In Training Programme in the Testing Division based in Johannesburg. This opportunity is designed to provide recent graduates in Electrical Engineering with the experience, training, and support needed to launch a successful career within ABB.

You will be placed in a structured development programme that blends hands-on practical training, formal learning modules, mentorship, and social networking opportunities with fellow trainees and professionals across ABB.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience in the testing of switchgear across primary, secondary, modular, and commissioning environments
  • Support electrical and mechanical design projects for switchgear systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ABB’s business goals
  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and managers to gain insight into business processes
  • Participate in professional development activities and training programmes
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects that align with business needs and contribute to ongoing improvements

Minimum Requirements

  • South African citizenship is mandatory
  • National Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering (preferably with High Voltage exposure)
  • Graduates must have no more than two years of working experience
  • Minimum academic average of 65% throughout your studies
  • A strong desire to learn and grow within the organization
  • Proven problem-solving skills and innovative thinking
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and teamwork
