FCM South Africa is now inviting applications for a Quality YES Graduate based at our manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offered as part of our structured Graduate Programme. The successful candidate will be placed within the Quality Department and will report directly to the FCM Quality Manager.

About the Role

As a YES Graduate in the Quality Department, you will be responsible for supporting and implementing process control programmes that ensure the production of finished goods meeting or exceeding customer-specified quality requirements. You will work alongside experienced quality professionals, gaining hands-on exposure to industry-standard quality tools, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Your development and learning experience will span the full quality lifecycle, including:

  • Conducting multiple concurrent projects from the feasibility phase through to post-launch quality assessment and ongoing production oversight.
  • Facilitating Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in collaboration with the Engineering team, as part of advanced quality planning activities.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques across production processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with the documented quality management system (IATF 16949) and promoting consistency throughout the organisation.
  • Investigating root causes of product defects and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintaining the customer complaint log and participating in 8D corrective action processes, ensuring timely feedback via customer and Faurecia portals.
  • Instructing and training plant personnel in quality audit techniques and the use of testing devices.
  • Monitoring and revising quality documentation as required to reflect current production standards.
  • Reviewing all production methods to assess compliance with quality standards and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitating PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) runs in-plant and coordinating PPAP packages with customers.
  • Acting as the customer representative across all relevant customer-facing quality activities.
  • Maintaining customer-specific requirements and conducting associated audits.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma (NDIP) or B-Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Quality Core Tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A customer-satisfaction-oriented mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Age between 18 and 35 years.
  • Must not have previously participated in the YES Youth Employment Service programme.
