GIBB is inviting applications for its 2025/2026 Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme in Cape Town, offering young South Africans an opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience and develop their professional skills. This initiative is aimed at addressing youth unemployment by providing a platform for candidates to acquire practical knowledge, earn a salary, and improve their employability prospects. Applications close on 31 August 2025, and all eligible candidates, including those living with disabilities, are encouraged to apply. The YES Programme is a collaborative effort between businesses and the government to tackle youth unemployment by providing opportunities for young people to gain meaningful work experience. Participants will work on a 12-month fixed-term contract, gaining exposure to real industry challenges, enhancing their technical abilities, and building a solid foundation for future employment.
For the Cape Town office, GIBB has three YES Student positions available. Two students will be placed in the Transportation business unit, requiring a minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Civil Engineering. The third student will be placed in the Structures business unit and must hold a National Diploma in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
To be considered for the programme, applicants must meet the following requirements: be South African citizens born in the country, aged between 18 and 35, unemployed, and available for the full 12-month contract. Applicants must not have previously benefited from the YES Programme, must be PC literate, eager to learn new skills relevant to their field, and demonstrate responsibility and honesty.
Applications must include an updated CV, certified copies of qualifications, and a certified copy of the applicant’s ID. Only candidates who submit all the required documents will be considered for the selection process. Successful applicants will be based at GIBB’s Cape Town office, where they will be mentored and guided by experienced professionals in the field.
