Globeleq seeks a Solar Plant Intern to assist with plant operations and maintenance. Ideal candidates have an N6 Electrical Certificate or National Diploma in Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering. This hands-on internship offers experience in PV systems, SCADA, data analysis, and power system operations.

Our expertise spans various energy generation technologies, including gas, wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage (BESS), and geothermal energy. Additionally, we are actively exploring new opportunities in the renewable energy space, such as desalination powered by clean energy, green hydrogen, and ammonia production.

We are currently looking for a Solar Plant Intern to assist in the operation and maintenance of our solar power plant. The successful candidate will work closely with the Solar PV Technicians and Line Managers to support optimization projects and ensure the plant operates efficiently. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector.

As this is an entry-level internship, applicants should have no more than one year of relevant work experience. We encourage applications from candidates belonging to designated groups in line with our Employment Equity commitments.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, particularly in writing clear and concise emails. A strong team player attitude, the ability to balance individual and group tasks, and good presentation skills are essential. Candidates should also be able to handle high-pressure situations, manage multiple projects, and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

A minimum of an N6 Electrical Certificate or a National Diploma in Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering, with only experiential learning outstanding.

Basic knowledge of PV plant operations is an advantage.

An understanding of switching LV, MV, and HV systems, as well as lock-out tag-out procedures and power system protection.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and schematics.

Data analysis skills to identify trends and generate reports.

Basic knowledge of SCADA systems.

Familiarity with ERP/CMMS software such as SAP, Ellipse, SAGE, or Maximo.

A basic understanding of PLC troubleshooting and maintenance is an added advantage.

Willingness to work in an outdoor environment.

A valid Code B driver’s license is beneficial.
