Gibela invites suitably qualified South African graduates to apply for its 24-Month Graduate Programme: Maintenance Technician, based at the Wolmerton Depot in Pretoria. Successful candidates will report to the Maintenance Team Leader and will be immersed in a dynamic, technically rich environment that spans the full lifecycle of high-quality rail products.

About the Programme

This graduate programme has been designed to give participants hands-on exposure to the transport rail manufacturing industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians across multiple teams, developing practical skills in the servicing and maintenance of rolling stock while building your understanding of compliance standards and quality assurance processes. The programme runs for 24 months and offers a genuine launchpad into a long-term career in rail engineering.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Maintenance Technician, you will be expected to:

  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs in accordance with specified quality procedures and engineering standards
  • Uphold quality, safety, and compliance requirements at all times
  • Maintain accurate documentation and produce clear operational reports
  • Collaborate actively with cross-functional teams and pursue continuous learning
  • Handle tools and equipment responsibly, adhering to all care and usage protocols
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of Gibela’s rail products and systems

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • No previous work experience required — this programme is open to recent graduates
  • South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
