Available Apprenticeship Positions

AUTO ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICESHIPS (2 Positions)

As an Auto Electrician apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience with advanced diagnostic equipment, electrical troubleshooting, and cutting-edge automotive technology. MILLWRIGHT APPRENTICESHIPS (2 Positions)

Our Maintenance department is seeking dedicated individuals to train as Millwrights – the versatile technicians who keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly. You’ll develop comprehensive skills in mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair, working with sophisticated machinery and production equipment. Millwrights are highly sought-after professionals in the industrial sector, making this an excellent foundation for a lucrative career.

FITTER & TURNER APPRENTICESHIPS (2 Positions)

In our Tool & Design department, Fitter & Turner apprentices learn the precision engineering skills that are fundamental to modern manufacturing. You’ll master machining operations, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and component fabrication. This traditional yet evolving trade combines craftsmanship with technology, offering diverse career pathways in engineering and manufacturing sectors.

BOILERMAKER APPRENTICESHIPS (6 Positions)

Our Low Volume Heavy Fabrication department offers six exciting positions for aspiring Boilermakers. Boilermakers are essential to heavy industry, and the skills you’ll acquire are transferable across mining, construction, petrochemical, and maritime industries worldwide.

MECHANICAL FITTER APPRENTICESHIPS (2 Positions)

The Maintenance department is also recruiting Mechanical Fitter apprentices who will become experts in mechanical systems assembly, maintenance, and repair. You’ll work with diverse mechanical equipment, learning to diagnose problems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure optimal equipment performance. This versatile trade opens doors to numerous industries and career advancement opportunities.

Essential Requirements for All Positions

To be considered for any of these exceptional apprenticeship opportunities, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics (Core), Physical Science, and Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD)
  • Assessment: Successfully pass our Technical Assessment, including Numeracy and Literacy evaluations
  • Physical Fitness: Good physical health with willingness to undergo medical examination due to the demanding nature of engineering work
  • Driver’s License: Valid Code 08/B (EB) driver’s license
  • Location: Residence within 50km radius from Bell Richards Bay factory/Customer Service Centre

Additional Advantages That Strengthen Your Application

While not mandatory, the following qualifications and experience will significantly enhance your candidacy:

  • Grade 12: Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or relevant technical subjects
  • N2 certification in relevant Trade Theory
  • National Vocational Certificate (NVC) Level 4 in applicable engineering disciplines
  • Previous working experience in the engineering or manufacturing industry
  • Completion of basic hand skills training programs
