The Opportunity

You’ll be based at SANRAL’s Head Office in the CGC Offices at 36 Assegai Wood Road, Rooihuiskraal, Centurion, working within a professional State-Owned Entity environment that manages South Africa’s critical road infrastructure.

Your Learning Journey

Throughout your 24-month internship, you’ll be exposed to a wide range of ICT service management functions. You’ll learn to maintain and update the asset register for hardware and software, assist with asset tagging and audits, and support procurement processes by preparing detailed asset lists and specifications.

Your technical skills will expand as you ensure compliance with asset lifecycle policies, log and categorize IT support requests, and provide first-line support for technical issues. You’ll escalate unresolved issues appropriately, maintain communication with users for timely resolution, and install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software.

The role also includes software deployment and patching, monitoring network and application performance using enterprise tools, and conducting routine workstation health checks. You’ll respond to alerts, escalate incidents promptly, analyze trends in system performance, and document monitoring procedures while updating dashboards.

Change Management Exposure

A significant component of your learning will involve change management—logging and managing change requests through SANRAL’s Change Management system, ensuring all changes adhere to documented policies including risk assessments and testing protocols, and communicating decisions to relevant stakeholders.

You’ll develop critical analytical skills by maintaining accurate change dashboards for management, tracking success/failure rates, conducting trend analysis, and reviewing change-generated incident reports with findings presented at Change Advisory Board meetings.

What You Need
