National Brands Limited, a division of AVI Limited, is offering an in-service trainee opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual with a passion for industrial engineering. Based at the Westmead Biscuits Factory in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, this role provides hands-on experience in one of South Africa’s most iconic FMCG manufacturing environments.

As an Industrial Engineering In-service Trainee, you will report directly to the Site Industrial Engineer and work closely with experienced professionals on various engineering projects. This opportunity offers practical experience and insight into the operations that drive efficiency in a high-performing factory.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in process methods analysis and improvements
- Identifying ways to enhance operational effectiveness and streamline workflows
- Engaging in labour analysis and time-study projects
- Contributing to capital expenditure and quality control initiatives
- Preparing clear and concise reports and presenting findings to the engineering team
Qualifications required:
- A Bachelor of Sciences, Bachelor of Engineering, or Bachelor of Technology degree with a major in Industrial Engineering
- A minimum average of 70% in your final year of study

- Vacation or part-time work experience is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across various levels of the organisation
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and travel between sites if required
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with limited office work
