Job Summary

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is seeking an Information Librarian II: Humanities to support teaching, learning, and research by ensuring access to essential information resources. The role involves providing specialized information services to students, researchers, and academic staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate access to relevant information resources, with a focus on blended and hybrid learning.
  • Promote library services for optimal information access.
  • Provide training and guidance on information retrieval and research skills.
  • Support the research community through specialized services.
  • Develop and manage library collections.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent qualification (NQF 7).
  • At least two years of experience in an academic, special, or research library.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong information retrieval and research support skills.
  • Experience with social networking applications.
  • Proficiency in delivering presentations and training.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • A postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience working in the Humanities faculty.
  • Familiarity with bibliometric tools.
