Job Summary
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is seeking an Information Librarian II: Humanities to support teaching, learning, and research by ensuring access to essential information resources. The role involves providing specialized information services to students, researchers, and academic staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate access to relevant information resources, with a focus on blended and hybrid learning.
- Promote library services for optimal information access.
- Provide training and guidance on information retrieval and research skills.
- Support the research community through specialized services.
- Develop and manage library collections.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent qualification (NQF 7).
- At least two years of experience in an academic, special, or research library.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong information retrieval and research support skills.
- Experience with social networking applications.
- Proficiency in delivering presentations and training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Conflict resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- A postgraduate qualification.
- Experience working in the Humanities faculty.
- Familiarity with bibliometric tools.
