We are currently offering an exciting internship opportunity for an aspiring Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Potchefstroom.

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician Intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in maintaining and servicing industrial instrumentation and equipment. As part of our technical team, you will assist in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our manufacturing processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, inspecting, calibrating, servicing, and maintaining various instruments, including working at the component level.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering design drawings to check for errors and manufacturability.
  • Compiling Bills of Materials (BOM) for purchasing materials needed for maintenance and installation tasks.
  • Installing and maintaining instrument field devices such as sensors, pressure and temperature transducers, and level sensors.
  • Conducting module tests and performing loop checks to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Performing routine inspections and participating in monthly Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) checks to maintain safe work practices.
  • Servicing, repairing, and overhauling field devices to ensure machinery remains in excellent operational condition.
  • Assisting with basic PLC programming, particularly with Siemens systems.
  • Collaborating with the electronic and electrical departments when required.

What Qualifications You Should Have

  • National Diploma in Industrial Instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of machinery operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Solid knowledge of field devices, including sensors, level sensing equipment, pressure devices, and temperature measurement instruments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to be available for standby duties and work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
