The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is seeking dynamic, skilled, and motivated Internet Engineers (3 positions) to join our IT: Infrastructure Services Division, within the Network Technology Strategy and Security Department.

Salary Range:
R 478,420 – R 717,630 per annum
Job Level: C5
Reports To: Consultant: Internet Services

Purpose of the Role:

As an Internet Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting SITA’s internet services infrastructure and associated technologies, ensuring seamless service delivery to government entities and citizens. Key Responsibilities:

Configure and manage internet infrastructure components and applications.
Provide maintenance and technical support for internet security services, including firewalls, VPNs, and content filtering systems.
Handle incident and problem management processes to swiftly resolve issues and minimize service disruptions.
Coordinate change activities, ensuring updates and system enhancements are implemented smoothly.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

A 3-Year National Diploma / Degree (NQF Level 6) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
3-5 years of hands-on experience supporting and providing internet and security services in complex environments.

Added Advantage:

Relevant open-source certifications.
Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP) will be highly beneficial.

Technical Competencies Required:

Deep understanding of internet protocols and services: DNS, email systems, web proxies, content filtering.
Expertise in VPN technologies (MPLS, Remote Access, IPSEC, ISAKMP).
Familiarity with firewall technologies, network routing, and switching.
Knowledge of computer and network security principles and best practices.
Experience in virtualization on UNIX platforms and mail cleansing (anti-spam solutions).
Understanding of internet peering and security governance frameworks relevant to South Africa.
Service Level Management and Project Management principles.
