The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa Limited is a self-financing, state-owned national development finance institution that plays a critical role in promoting industrial development and economic growth. The IDC is offering a 24-month Internship Programme that provides valuable workplace experience for young graduates. This structured programme is designed to help graduates apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment, build networks with industry professionals, and explore various career paths within a high-impact organisation.
Programme Overview:
The Internship Programme is a fixed-term contract of 24 months, offering on-the-job training supported by a well-structured learning framework. Interns will be placed across the IDC’s Head Office and Regional Offices, gaining experience in their field of study while earning a stipend.
Objectives of the Programme:
- Develop a pipeline of skilled professionals across various business areas within the Corporation.
- Provide unemployed graduates with the opportunity to build competencies and improve employability.
- Offer graduates the chance to apply academic knowledge to practical situations and learn from experienced mentors.
- Encourage exposure to the corporate environment and build meaningful professional networks.
Minimum Requirements:
- South African citizens under the age of 35
- Not currently studying at any other institution
- Not previously enrolled in any learnership or internship programme
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Must possess a completed qualification in one of the following fields:
- BCom Accounting/Financial Management (Management or Financial Accounting), BTech Cost & Management Accounting
- Honours in Information Science or Records Management
- BCom (Law), LLB
- Honours in Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, Quantitative Risk, Financial Modelling, Actuarial Science, Financial Econometrics, or Mathematical Economics
- BEng Industrial Engineering, BSc Environmental Science, Civil/Construction Engineering
- BA/Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism, Brand Communication, or Media Studies
- CTA or Honours in Finance/Accounting
- National Diploma in Real Estate Valuation, BSc Property Studies (SACPVP Candidate Valuer registration advantageous)
- National Diploma in Engineering (ASA registration advantageous)
- BSc Engineering Mechanical/Electrical (ECSA registration advantageous)
- Matriculants living with disabilities
- Human Resource Management, Psychology, Education, Data Science, Information Management
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to build and manage professional relationships
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and work under pressure
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Selection Process:
All shortlisted candidates will undergo competency-based interviews. Background checks will be conducted including criminal record screening, educational verification, and confirmation of South African citizenship. Successful candidates will be required to sign a 24-month fixed-term contract.
