The Opportunity

Are you passionate about technology and eager to launch your IT career with a globally respected organization? GIZ is seeking an enthusiastic IT Intern to join our dynamic team for a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration and working closely with our IT Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our digital operations, ensuring seamless technology delivery across our Country Office and project sites.

What You’ll Do

As our IT Intern, you’ll gain invaluable experience across the full spectrum of IT operations:

Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain hardware including servers, notebooks, printers, and digital devices. You’ll work with enterprise systems like Office 365, SAP, and Windows Server environments.

IT Security: Play a crucial role in protecting our digital assets by monitoring network vulnerabilities, maintaining antivirus systems, managing user permissions, and ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 27001 standards.

User Support: Become the go-to person for colleagues experiencing IT challenges, providing responsive technical support and innovative solutions that keep everyone productive.

Innovation & Documentation: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, maintain comprehensive IT inventories, and help shape our digital future through proactive problem-solving.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology
  • Outstanding knowledge of IT hardware, software, networks, and database systems
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office 365, MS Teams, and ICT technologies
  • Excellent English communication skills

Advantageous Skills:

  • Microsoft Windows Server (2012/2016), Windows 10, MS Office certifications
  • CompTIA A+ and N+ certificates
  • CCNA training
  • Knowledge of SAP or WINPACCS
  • German language proficiency

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: R12,400 per month (R148,800 per annum total contract value)
