Abbott, a global healthcare leader, is looking for a dedicated IT Site Technician to join our Johannesburg team on a contract basis. In this critical role, you’ll be the go-to person for end-user technical support, helping ensure our people and systems run smoothly every day.
About the Role:
As the IT Site Technician, you will provide both on-site and remote support for employees and management, resolving a wide range of technical issues. You’ll handle everything from setting up mobile devices and computing equipment to troubleshooting network connections and maintaining IT assets. Your work will directly support the efficiency of our teams and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver effective technical support to end users, both remotely and on-site.
Manage and resolve user incidents and requests routed through our Global Service Desk.
Support daily IT operations, including PC configurations, VPN access, peripherals, LAN connectivity, and mobile device support.
Coordinate the setup of IT equipment for new employees, ensuring a seamless start on day one.
Maintain IT infrastructure and equipment, ensuring security and compliance with ISO, FDA, SOX, and other regulatory standards.
Troubleshoot and repair hardware following manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain up-to-date hardware and software inventory records.
Collaborate with vendors for site-specific services, hardware, and software support.
Fulfill documentation requirements and manage IT assets and supplies.
Take ownership of projects such as large rollouts or upgrades as needed.
Requirements:
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field.
Proven experience providing end-user technical support in a corporate environment.
Hands-on experience with technologies such as Windows OS, Active Directory, SCCM, antivirus solutions, and network technologies.
Solid understanding of mobile device management and security best practices.
Familiarity with compliance standards like SOX and ITIL frameworks.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and resolve support issues proactively.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours and occasionally travel to local sites.
Ability to coordinate and supervise team members during large deployments.
