The company is seeking an IT Trainee/Intern to join its Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical and functional first-level support to users, addressing and resolving all types of IT incidents. This includes monitoring the helpdesk for new incidents and requests, taking immediate action where necessary, and ensuring the timely resolution of issues.
A core responsibility of the role is to monitor security indicators and promptly address and resolve cybersecurity non-conformances. The IT Trainee/Intern will also prepare new PCs and laptops for use on the network in line with Forvia’s standard installation policies. The position involves assisting the IT Manager with various administrative tasks, which may include backup and restore procedures, Microsoft Office application support, ERP support, hardware and network assistance, monitoring critical systems, providing after-hours support, and managing IT assets.
The role requires ensuring that system ownership lies with the user, coordinating training where necessary, and promoting the application of IT procedures in line with group standards. This includes adherence to hardware and software policies, security measures, license controls, and maintaining an accurate inventory. Site-specific IT procedures must be applied, and site IT documentation must be kept up-to-date at all times. The successful candidate will also assist with GIT project implementation, IT backup mode tests, and related documentation.
The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Information Technology and have completed relevant industry-related courses such as A+, N+, MCSE, MCP, MOUS, or Cisco certifications. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, with English being mandatory and additional languages considered an advantage. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, have their own transport, and demonstrate excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. An outgoing personality, the ability to work well with all levels of employees, and the willingness to work shifts now or in the future are also required.
