Available Opportunities

1. Electronics Engineering In-Service Training (4 Vacancies)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, radio frequency (RF) equipment, and electronic telecommunications infrastructure integral to satellite ground station operations.
  • Participate in specialized Tracking, Telemetry, and Command (TT&C) services for Satellite Launch Vehicles (SLVs), including launch support, transfer-orbit operations (TOS), launch and early-orbit phases (LEOP), and in-orbit testing (IOT).
  • Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on SANSA-owned and customer-hosted systems.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects aimed at enhancing ground station efficiency and technological innovation.

Requirements:

  • S5 Electronic Engineering qualification (or equivalent) with strong academic performance, specializing in telecommunications.
  • Enrollment in Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) or in-service training to fulfill qualification requirements.
  • Coursework in satellite technology, microwave principles, and telecommunications applications.
  • Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competency in MS Office Suite and general computer literacy.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and clear vision.

2. Electronics Engineering Internship (1 Vacancy)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the operation and maintenance of RF systems, electronic equipment, and antenna infrastructure critical to satellite communications.
  • Engage in TT&C operations, including ground segment services for SLV launches, transfer-orbit support, and routine in-orbit testing.
  • Assist in lifecycle support for SANSA-owned and customer-hosted infrastructure.
  • Collaborate on innovative projects to optimize systems or develop new solutions.

Requirements:

  • Three-year Diploma/Degree in Electronic Engineering with a strong academic record.
  • Coursework in satellite communications or telecommunications is advantageous.
  • Graduates seeking internship opportunities to gain practical experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of microwave principles and telecommunications.
  • Proficiency in English, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Physical capability to perform technical tasks.
  • Own transport or reliable commute arrangements (due to the remote location of the Hartebeesthoek site).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be 35 years or younger at the time of application.
  • South African citizenship and a valid driver’s license are mandatory.
  • Successful candidates will undergo background verification, including criminal record, credit, and qualification checks, as well as competency assessments.
