The Maintenance Graduate position is a 12-month fixed-term contract reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This role is designed to provide a recent graduate with practical, hands-on exposure to maintenance and process engineering within an advanced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining equipment reliability, ensuring system efficiency, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The graduate will gain valuable experience working alongside skilled artisans and technicians, supporting plant performance, and gradually taking responsibility for defined maintenance and improvement projects.
The main purpose of this role is to support the Maintenance Department in areas such as breakdown analysis, data management, project participation, and reporting. The graduate will be involved in technical support activities including root cause analysis of recurring breakdowns, updating machine history and job card records, generating maintenance reports, and ensuring the accuracy of the Maintenance Management System. Additional responsibilities will include tracking abnormalities, escalating issues, and following up on concerns until closure.
As part of their development, the graduate will participate in job shadowing with artisans and technicians during planned and unplanned maintenance tasks. They will support small projects such as equipment upgrades, energy-saving initiatives, and safety improvements. Exposure to process improvement tools, including FMEAs and process flow diagrams, will be provided to help the graduate build a solid foundation in problem-solving and process analysis. Reporting and administrative tasks will also form part of the role, with duties including capturing downtime events, contributing to OEE tracking, and supporting daily and weekly reporting cycles.
In addition, the graduate will actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, taking ownership of a specific area and becoming the primary resource for maintenance records and improvement activities. They will also lead or support 5S and Kaizen activities aimed at improving safety, organization, and efficiency. Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards will be expected at all times.
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must hold a National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. Strong computer literacy, effective teamwork skills, and proficiency in English are essential. A valid driver’s license is also required.
