eThekwini Municipality invites motivated and passionate unemployed youth to apply for its 2025 Artisan Development Programme. This apprenticeship programme offers structured workplace learning and practical training for individuals aiming to qualify as artisans in the Electrical or Millwright trades. About the Programme:
The Artisan Development Programme (ADP) is designed to empower youth from the eThekwini region by equipping them with the skills needed to become qualified artisans. This full-time apprenticeship aligns with national standards as prescribed by QCTO, SETA, and the National Artisan Moderating Body. The programme culminates in a Trade Test, qualifying successful participants as professional artisans.

- Millwright
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID
- Must reside within the eThekwini Municipality (proof of residence required)
- Aged between 18–35 years
- Must be unemployed and not have previously participated in any similar apprenticeship programme
- Must be passionate and committed to the selected trade
Educational Requirements (select one option):
For Electrical Trade:
- N6 Certificate including Electrical Trade Theory, OR
- Technical Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics, Physical Science or Engineering Science, and Electrical Trade Theory, OR
- Relevant National Technical Diploma (S or N Stream)
For Millwright Trade:
- N6 in Mechanical Fitter or N2 in Millwright, OR
- Technical Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and Millwright-related theory, OR
- Relevant National Technical Diploma (S or N Stream)
Assessment & Training:
- All applicants will undergo verbal, written, and medical assessments
- Selected candidates will enter a full-time apprenticeship programme
- The programme will conclude with a Trade Test
