Purpose of the Role:

The Workplace IT Technician will provide first and second-level IT support to students and staff, ensuring efficient operation of hardware, software, mobile, telecommunication, and classroom technology. You will play a key role in maintaining a reliable and secure IT environment, supporting our mission of academic excellence.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Tertiary IT qualification at NQF level 6 (National Diploma or Advanced Certificate)
  • A+ and N+ certifications
  • ITIL Foundation certification (highly desirable)
  • Project Management certification (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support

  • Deliver 1st level technical support for desktops, laptops, servers (basic), and mobile devices, including MAC platforms
  • Install, configure, and maintain standard and non-standard hardware and software

Incident Management

  • Log, track, and resolve incidents via the IT Service Management system
  • Handle multiple cases efficiently, ensuring adherence to SLAs

Workplace Support

  • Support IT projects such as new hardware/software roll-outs
  • Provide basic user training and manage outsourced service partners
  • Assist with campus office moves and manage Active Directory accounts
  • Ensure mobile device security and encryption compliance

  • Strong technical knowledge of PC and network support
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and service delivery skills
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident and request management

  • Proactive and responsible with excellent communication abilities
  • Strong planning, time management, and attention to detail
  • Emotionally resilient with a calm, systematic approach
