Purpose of the Role:
The Workplace IT Technician will provide first and second-level IT support to students and staff, ensuring efficient operation of hardware, software, mobile, telecommunication, and classroom technology. You will play a key role in maintaining a reliable and secure IT environment, supporting our mission of academic excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
- Tertiary IT qualification at NQF level 6 (National Diploma or Advanced Certificate)
- A+ and N+ certifications
- ITIL Foundation certification (highly desirable)
- Project Management certification (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support
- Deliver 1st level technical support for desktops, laptops, servers (basic), and mobile devices, including MAC platforms
- Install, configure, and maintain standard and non-standard hardware and software
Incident Management
- Log, track, and resolve incidents via the IT Service Management system
- Handle multiple cases efficiently, ensuring adherence to SLAs
Workplace Support
- Support IT projects such as new hardware/software roll-outs
- Provide basic user training and manage outsourced service partners
- Assist with campus office moves and manage Active Directory accounts
- Ensure mobile device security and encryption compliance
Core Competencies:

- Strong technical knowledge of PC and network support
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and service delivery skills
- Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident and request management

- Proactive and responsible with excellent communication abilities
- Strong planning, time management, and attention to detail
- Emotionally resilient with a calm, systematic approach
