Role Purpose
Ensure the highest reliability and availability of mechanical systems at Palmiet PS by performing advanced maintenance, guiding teams, and driving continuous improvement in plant operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • System Optimization: Oversee mechanical systems to minimize downtime and enhance performance through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Procurement Oversight: Verify and procure correct spares, components, and services to maintain operational readiness.
  • Plant Improvement: Collaborate on modifications and upgrades to boost system reliability and efficiency.
  • Team Development: Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of safety, quality, and professional growth.
  • Project Supervision: Manage contractors and projects to ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to Eskom’s Permit-to-Work system and promote a zero-harm environment.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for audits and operational reviews.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: National Diploma/N6 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience:
  • P1 & P2 experiential training completed.
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within power generation or heavy industry.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning tools and safety protocols (e.g., OHS Act).

Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge:
