HENSOLDT South Africa is seeking a qualified and motivated Electronic Technician to support our engineering team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about electronics development, fault finding, and hands-on engineering work in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Job Purpose
The Electronic Technician will support development engineers by providing first-level engineering analysis, technical problem solving, and hands-on technical support. You will assist in design, research, and development tasks to ensure the successful delivery of technical objectives within the business unit.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • National Diploma, National Higher Diploma, or BTech in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in electronics development, testing, and fault finding is advantageous

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation in mathematics, physical sciences, and mechanical engineering principles
  • Experience with engineering tools such as Altium Designer, LabVIEW, and simulation software
  • Understanding of engineering processes, product life cycle, and design review procedures
  • Proficiency in PCB layout, soldering, interpreting circuit diagrams, and EMI design principles
  • Competence in debugging, fault finding, and digital/electronic coding development
  • Familiarity with loom design, manufacturing techniques, and precision assembly
  • Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an innovative mindset

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers on design, research, and development activities
  • Perform debugging, testing, and fault finding on electronic designs and hardware
  • Assist in engineering projects and tasks under the supervision of senior engineers
  • Support the creation and upkeep of technical documentation
  • Develop and build test equipment for development and manufacturing support
  • Apply engineering design processes and actively participate in peer reviews
  • Contribute to the design and development of test and industrialisation tools
  • Work with industrial engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and ease of production
  • Perform laboratory tasks, engineering tests, and provide demo and installation support to customers
  • Train production personnel and support knowledge transfer within the team
  • Comply with company policies and participate in ongoing improvement initiatives
