As a Junior Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting our finance department with day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial transactions and record-keeping. What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will be responsible for a diverse range of accounting duties that will help you build essential skills and knowledge:

Financial Transaction Processing: You’ll capture and process daily financial transactions, including sales invoices, purchase orders, payments, and receipts, using industry-standard accounting software such as Pastel or Sage.

Ledger Management: Assist with managing both creditors and debtors ledgers, reconciling supplier and customer statements, and following up on outstanding invoices to maintain healthy cash flow.

Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions align accurately between bank statements and the general ledger.

Expense Administration: Handle staff expense claims, petty cash management, and corporate card expenses while ensuring full compliance with internal policies and procedures.

Administrative Excellence: Maintain organized filing systems for financial documentation, manage correspondence, and provide comprehensive administrative support to our Financial Manager.

Month-End Support: Contribute to month-end closing procedures and assist in preparing supporting documentation for management reports.

Inventory Coordination: Work collaboratively with the operations team to reconcile inventory counts and stock valuations when required.


What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping
  • 0-1 year of practical experience in a finance or accounting environment
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping
  • Legal authorization to work in South Africa

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software packages such as Pastel, Sage, or QuickBooks (highly advantageous)
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Excellent numerical ability with a keen eye for detail and accuracy

Personal Attributes:

  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and grow
