Motla Consulting Engineers is looking for a driven and technically minded Junior Electrical Engineer to join its growing Renewable Energy division at its Centurion Head Office.
This is far more than a conventional entry-level position. You will contribute to a portfolio exceeding 200MW of projects while steadily progressing toward your Pr Eng status.
What You Will Be Working On
Under the guidance of seasoned Pr Eng professionals, you will gain practical, hands-on exposure across every stage of the project lifecycle:
Electrical Design — You will work on Low, Medium, and High Voltage reticulation systems up to 132kV for renewable energy plants, applying sound engineering principles to design reliable and efficient electrical infrastructure.
Power Systems Engineering — Your work will span Solar PV systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and grid integration, giving you broad exposure to the technologies driving South Africa’s energy transition.
Technical Modelling — You will conduct energy yield and load flow analyses using industry-standard tools such as PVSyst, DigSILENT, or similar simulation platforms, producing the technical models that inform critical project decisions.
Compliance and Regulations — You will develop a strong working knowledge of Grid Code requirements and municipal wheeling frameworks, ensuring that all designs meet the regulatory standards governing South Africa’s power sector.
Project Delivery — From initial feasibility assessments and procurement support through to commissioning and as-built verification, you will be involved at every phase, gaining a complete picture of how engineering projects are delivered in practice.
What Motla Is Looking For
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- A B.Eng or B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Heavy Current or Power Systems
- Between 1 and 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience
- ECSA Candidate Engineer status, or eligibility to register as one
- Strong analytical thinking combined with meticulous attention to technical detail
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit will be an added advantage
