About the Takeover Regulation Panel
The Takeover Regulation Panel (the Panel) is a regulatory agency established in terms of section 196 of the Companies Act No. 71 of 2008. Operating as a juristic person, the Panel reports to the Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic). It functions as an organ of state within the public administration, listed as a Schedule 3A public entity under the Public Finance Management Act of 1999. The Panel plays a vital role in regulating corporate takeovers and mergers in South Africa, ensuring fair and transparent processes in the interest of all stakeholders.
Opportunity Overview
The Takeover Regulation Panel invites suitably qualified Law graduates to apply for an exciting 18-month internship programme. This is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly specialised regulatory environment, with direct exposure to corporate and company law in practice. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must hold a 4-year LLB and/or BCom Law degree and demonstrate a keen interest in Company and Corporate Law.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35
- Be proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Be computer literate
- Have no criminal record
- Not be permanently employed
- Not have previously participated in any internship programme

- The internship will be based at the Panel’s offices in Johannesburg. Applicants residing outside Johannesburg are responsible for their own transport and accommodation arrangements.
