The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated and talented Mechanical Engineering Graduate to join our Quality department on a 1-year contract basis. This is an exciting experiential learning programme designed to give you hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will work closely with experienced professionals and be given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one. You will be involved in identifying, developing, and implementing quality improvement initiatives across various systems and processes. This is your chance to apply your academic knowledge, sharpen your technical skills, and grow within a globally respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of quality systems and processes, with a focus on identifying inefficiencies and driving continuous improvement. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support process optimisation efforts, and contribute to maintaining the high standards that Tenneco is known for worldwide.

Qualifications & Education

Applicants must hold a National Diploma or BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised South African institution. You must be a recent graduate who is eager to put your qualifications to practical use in a professional, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience

Candidates must have some form of work experience or community involvement. Whether gained through vacation work, internships, volunteer programmes, or community projects, this demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and a willingness to engage beyond the classroom.

Skills & Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate will be innovative and solution-oriented, with strong communication skills and professional office etiquette. You must be well-organised, detail-oriented, and genuinely willing to learn and grow. Computer literacy is essential — proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is required, with the ability and willingness to learn and master additional programmes as needed.
