MEKAN Engineering Services, a proudly South African engineering firm established in 2000, is seeking motivated and ambitious graduates to join its growing team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. Six trainee positions are available across three engineering disciplines — Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. Available Positions

• Electrical Trainees x 2 — BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy)
• Mechanical Trainees x 2 — BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• Civil Trainees x 2 — BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering

All six positions are based in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates across all three disciplines will be expected to:

• Produce detailed technical drawings and plans from marked-up drawings in accordance with project specifications and draughting standards.
• Assist Technicians and Engineers in producing calculations, project designs, sketches, and tender drawings in line with client requirements.
• Support the preparation of bills of quantities for allocated projects.
• Assist in the redesign and modification of projects based on client updates.
• Issue and receive drawings in accordance with MEKAN QMS procedures.
• Maintain project files and directories in line with MEKAN QMS system standards.
• Enforce MEKAN QMS compliance by issuing Quality Improvement Requests and recommending process improvements where necessary.
• Develop expertise in your area of work and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organisation.
• Attend client site briefing meetings as required.

In addition to these shared responsibilities, candidates in specific disciplines will be expected to perform the following:

Electrical Trainees will produce drawings for allocated electrical projects while adhering strictly to electrical draughting standards, and will enforce QMS compliance specific to electrical engineering systems.

Mechanical Trainees will prepare detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings, assist in site inspections to ensure quality standards are met, and support senior engineers with reports, designs, and estimates.

Civil Trainees will produce detailed civil engineering drawings for assigned projects, receive and process architectural and structural drawings through the QMS system, and develop expertise in civil engineering principles and practices.

Desired Qualifications

• BSc or BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy) — for Electrical Trainee positions
• BSc or BTech in Mechanical Engineering — for Mechanical Trainee positions
• BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering — for Civil Trainee positions
• Knowledge of relevant design principles and engineering software in the respective discipline is advantageous across all roles.
