Available Internship Positions
1. Human Resources (HR) Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- Support HR functions for site-based construction teams, including onboarding and induction of project personnel
- Assist with managing employee documentation such as IDs, medicals, certifications, and operator licences
- Maintain accurate site attendance registers, timesheets, and leave records
- Assist with administering training compliance, including safety training, induction refreshers, and competency tracking
- Support employee relations on-site, helping address grievances or labour matters under the guidance of senior HR staff
- Coordinate HR logistics such as PPE issuance, accommodation lists, travel arrangements, and welfare initiatives for field teams
- Ensure HR documentation is properly filed and available for audits
- Any other related tasks as instructed by line management from time to time
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
- Interest in or exposure to construction-site HR operations
- Strong administrative skills and ability to work in fast-paced field project environments
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with diverse teams
- Understanding of basic labour legislation and contractor workforce processes
- Willingness to work on remote construction sites
2. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with site safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks on powerline construction sites
- Monitor compliance with the OHS Act, construction regulations, and company SHE procedures
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments, including site-specific job hazard analyses
- Assist in developing and implementing safe work procedures for activities such as excavation, foundation works, tower erection, stringing, and live-line proximity work
- Support environmental compliance, including waste management, spill control, and environmental monitoring
- Maintain SHE documentation, registers, and daily site reports
- Promote safety awareness and participate in safety campaigns across construction teams
- Any other related tasks as instructed by line management from time to time
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Understanding of construction safety regulations and powerline construction hazards
- Ability to work on-site in remote or rugged field conditions
- Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills
- Knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation, and SHEQ systems (advantageous)
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous due to site mobility)
- Willingness to work on remote construction sites
3. Finance & Procurement Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with project cost tracking, capturing site expenses, and verifying invoices against delivery notes
- Support procurement processes including requesting quotes, preparing purchase orders, and tracking material deliveries to site
- Maintain updated records of material usage, supplier documentation, and subcontractor claims
- Assist in verifying supplier compliance, including CIDB registration, tax clearance, and B-BBEE certificates
- Support the finance team with monthly reporting, reconciliation of project costs, and budget monitoring
- Participate in site stocktakes and assist with inventory control of materials, tools, and equipment
- Provide administrative support to project managers, site supervisors, and project accountants
- Any other related tasks as instructed by line management from time to time
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or Procurement
- Strong numerical and analytical skills applicable to construction project cost management
- Ability to work effectively in a project-site environment
- Basic understanding of procurement processes and financial controls
- Proficiency in MS Excel (essential) and familiarity with procurement or ERP systems (advantageous)
- Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Willingness to work on remote construction sites
4. Technical Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engineering teams in surveying, site inspections, and construction supervision
- Assist with foundation layout, tower and pole erection, and stringing activities
- Participate in technical troubleshooting and quality verification during construction
- Assist with compiling technical reports, progress updates, and as-built documentation
- Support equipment and material verification on-site
- Work closely with supervisors and contractors to ensure strict adherence to engineering drawings and specifications
- Participate in project execution planning, safety meetings, and technical briefings
- Any other related tasks as instructed by line management from time to time
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a relevant technical field
- Interest or foundational knowledge in powerline construction, transmission and distribution systems, or structural works
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and construction standards
- Willingness to work field-based, including remote project sites and outdoor environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Basic understanding of construction machinery, tools, and site processes (advantageous)
- Willingness to work on remote construction sites
5. Quality Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting on-site quality inspections for civil, structural, and general construction activities
- Support the Quality Officer or Manager with monitoring compliance to project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
- Help verify materials, workmanship, and construction processes to ensure they meet project quality requirements
- Assist in preparing and maintaining Quality Control documentation, including checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Participate in quality audits and follow-up actions to close out non-conformances
- Collect and compile site evidence, including photographs, test results, and inspection records
- Assist with ensuring traceability of construction materials and completed work
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of quality on-site
- Maintain organised and up-to-date quality files for internal and external review
- Any other related tasks as instructed by line management from time to time
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Basic understanding of construction processes, materials, and quality control practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction standards
- Strong attention to detail and good reporting skills
- Willingness to work on-site and in various construction environments, including remote project locations
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, quality assurance systems, or construction QC procedures (advantageous)
- Good communication and teamwork skills to support site and project teams
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) and basic digital recordkeeping
- Willingness to work on remote construction sites
General Requirements (All Positions)
All applicants must meet the following minimum criteria regardless of the position applied for:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Between 18 and 35 years of age
- No prior full-time work experience in the relevant field
- Computer literate
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
