This is a 12-month programme offering four (4) available positions, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the demands of a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment.

About the Programme
The In-Service Training programme is designed to develop and support Chemical Engineering students by integrating their academic foundation with practical experience in a live production environment. Trainees will be immersed in NCP Chlorchem’s operations with the aim of cultivating professionals who can meaningfully contribute to process optimisation, safety management, and operational efficiency — while building the competencies required for future roles in the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities
As an In-Service Trainee, you will be expected to:
- Attend and participate in theoretical and practical learning components within the Chemical Engineering function, including HAZOP and MOC training
- Complete logbooks and all required summative assessments in line with your institutional requirements
- Carry out industry-related workplace experience activities across NCP Chlorchem’s operations
- Complete plant assessments within your designated areas
- Compile and submit technical reports as required
Skills and Competencies Required
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills — both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail
- Sound planning and organising abilities
Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:
- Matric certificate with Mathematics and Sciences
- Completed S4 subjects in Chemical Engineering with a minimum 60% average and 65% on major subjects
- Statement of results
- Letter from your University confirming the workplace experience requirement
No prior work experience is required.
Personal Circumstances
- Applicants must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from NCP Chlorchem’s medical centre
