About the Graduate Programme

The Nedbank Group Internal Audit Graduate Programme is structured to give graduates exposure to various auditing environments within the bank. Participants will support independent risk-based assurance processes and help evaluate internal controls across banking operations, technology systems, and regulatory frameworks.

Graduates joining this programme will also benefit from professional development aligned with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards, mentorship from experienced professionals, and exposure to real-world financial systems and risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the programme, graduates will assist with several audit and compliance activities including:

  • Supporting risk-based audit scoping and control design assessments
  • Conducting walkthroughs, sampling procedures, and data analytics
  • Testing the effectiveness of manual and automated controls
  • Performing IT application control testing and IT General Controls (ITGC) assessments
  • Documenting audit workpapers according to internal audit standards
  • Identifying control weaknesses and assisting in developing remediation plans
  • Supporting continuous auditing and data analytics initiatives
  • Preparing evidence-based findings and audit reports
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics

Graduates will also be expected to take responsibility for their own learning and development and actively contribute to Nedbank’s culture of transformation and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Nedbank is seeking graduates who have completed one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Internal Auditing
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Sciences
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Finance
  • BSc in Financial Engineering or Financial Mathematics
  • BSc or BCom in Information Technology
  • Degree in Cyber Security or related field

Different streams within the programme include:

  • Credit Graduate
  • Environmental and Social Governance Graduate
  • Business and Commercial Banking Graduate
  • Markets Graduate
  • Cyber Graduate

Preferred Qualification

  • Honours Degree in Internal Auditing

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have 1–2 years of relevant exposure. Depending on the graduate stream, preferred exposure may include:

  • Banking or financial services experience
  • Audit experience in financial institutions or audit firms
  • Exposure to trading environments or investment banking
  • IT service desk or networking fundamentals (for Cyber graduates)

Skills and Knowledge

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge or interest in the following areas:

  • Governance, risk, and control frameworks

  • Auditing principles
  • Banking regulations
