Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM) is offering ambitious, unemployed South African graduates a structured two-year development programme designed to bridge the gap between academic achievement and meaningful professional experience. TRIM is recruiting Young Professionals-in-Training across eight discipline-specific roles, all posted on 23 March 2026. Successful candidates will be placed in various departments within TRIM and will receive both institutionalised knowledge and hands-on, on-the-job training over a mentored 24-month period. Progress is formally assessed every six months to ensure the programme remains mutually beneficial for both the candidate and the organisation.
About the Programme
The TRIM Young Professional-in-Training initiative is targeted at unemployed graduates between the ages of 18 and 35 who hold a Bachelor’s degree, BTech, or Diploma at a minimum NQF Level 6 from a Department of Higher Education and Training registered institution — including universities and universities of technology. Applicants must have no prior work experience in their respective field of study. The programme is not a once-off placement; it is a deliberate, structured pathway into the world of work within South Africa’s rail infrastructure sector.
Candidates are assessed at six-month intervals throughout the programme, creating a framework of accountability and professional growth that mirrors real workplace expectations. TRIM’s commitment to developing young talent is reflected in the breadth of disciplines it is recruiting across in this intake.

Each role falls under the TR-PMM-Young Professionals department, reports to the Senior People Business Partner, and is graded at GRAD_6.
