Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) is seeking a dedicated and motivated student to join the organisation as a PQ Testing Technician Assistant (Work Integrated Learner). This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are required to complete compulsory experiential learning as part of their qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
This role offers valuable hands-on industry exposure within a highly regulated manufacturing and defence environment. The successful candidate will gain practical experience in quality assurance, product testing, and compliance with international standards.
Purpose of the Role
The PQ Testing Technician Assistant will support the Quality department in maintaining quality systems and assisting with the acceptance, proofing, and testing of various products, including 40mm ammunition, pyrotechnics, and high explosives. The role focuses on ensuring that all projects and products meet strict quality, safety, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring that RDM projects and products conform to internal quality standards and client specifications.
- Support the testing of relevant products in accordance with approved procedures.
- Assist with serviceability checks and stock inspections of weapons, as well as jigs and fixtures used during testing.
- Support test setup, execution, data capturing, and database maintenance.
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
- Ensure that high-quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Adhere to all applicable legislation within Rheinmetall Denel Munition.
- Implement and comply with company policies and procedures, including ISO standards relating to Quality, Safety, Environmental, and Energy management systems.
Minimum Requirements
- N6 / NQF Level 5 qualification or currently studying towards a Diploma with a compulsory experiential learning component in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to work off-site for short periods when required.
- Clear security screening record.
