Sage is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Pre-Sales Intern. Based at our Midrand office in Johannesburg, this hybrid internship will provide you with practical experience and insight into the software sales process, specifically in the Financial Management and Accounting sector.

As a Pre-Sales Intern, you will work closely with our sales, product, and engineering teams to understand customer requirements, deliver product demonstrations, and provide technical support throughout the sales cycle. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about technology and eager to develop innovative solutions to real-world business challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

You will support the software sales team by:

  • Collaborating with account executives to assess customer needs and propose suitable software solutions.
  • Conducting product demonstrations and proof-of-concepts (POCs) tailored to client requirements.
  • Analysing client business processes and aligning them with Sage’s software capabilities.
  • Assisting in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and technical documentation.
  • Working with both sales and technical teams to ensure a smooth handover from presales to implementation.
  • Staying updated on product developments, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
  • Helping to develop demo environments, presales tools, and customer use cases.
  • Gathering and relaying customer feedback to our product development teams.

Candidate Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, BCom in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related software/accounting field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Willingness to travel to business partners and customer sites when required.
  • An understanding of software solutions including SaaS, cloud platforms, or enterprise applications is preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with accounting software or technical certifications (e.g. Sage, AWS, Microsoft) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
