The Opportunity
Are you a recent engineering graduate ready to gain hands-on project engineering experience? Premier is offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring Project Engineers to join our Technical Milling team in Pretoria. This graduate programme provides practical exposure to real capital and improvement projects within our milling operations, giving you the foundation to launch a rewarding career in engineering project management.
You’ll work alongside experienced Project Engineers, gaining invaluable insights into how complex industrial projects are planned, executed, and delivered. This isn’t a desk-bound role – you’ll be actively involved in site activities, meetings, inspections, and the day-to-day challenges that make project engineering both exciting and rewarding.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Project Engineer Graduate, you’ll be fully immersed in our milling processes and project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include assisting Project Engineers with project planning and administration, supporting site activities, and attending critical meetings and inspections. You’ll help track project progress, costs, and timelines while preparing essential reports and documentation. A key part of your role involves assisting with coordination between engineering teams, operations, and external contractors – giving you comprehensive exposure to how successful projects come together.
What You’ll Learn

You’ll learn how engineering projects are planned and managed from conception to completion, including basic project scheduling, progress tracking, and cost management. You’ll develop the ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings, work effectively with contractors and suppliers, and appreciate the critical importance of health, safety, and quality practices on site. By the end of the programme, you’ll understand the complete project lifecycle, including handover and closeout procedures.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking graduates who are currently studying towards or have recently completed qualifications in Project Engineering Management, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or related technical fields. You should possess intermediate computer skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Projects, and demonstrate a willingness to work in practical, site-based environments with occasional travel requirements.
Beyond technical skills, we value strong communication and teamwork abilities, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to safety awareness. You should be someone who enjoys problem-solving, thrives working in teams under pressure, and is eager to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification in Project Engineering Management, Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering, or related field
