Indalo Inclusive South Africa NPC is inviting applications from motivated and passionate graduates for a Project Intern position within its Just Energy Transition Portfolio. This 12-month internship provides an exciting opportunity for a young professional who is interested in climate change, sustainable development, and public sector collaboration to gain valuable hands-on experience in project coordination and implementation.
Indalo Inclusive South Africa is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2017 with a mission to promote green and inclusive entrepreneurship across South Africa. The organisation works with government, private sector partners, and international organisations to build ecosystems that support sustainable and environmentally responsible businesses. With offices in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and the Eastern Cape, Indalo focuses on initiatives that drive entrepreneurship development and ecosystem building in the green economy.
As part of its growing involvement in South Africa’s Just Energy Transition, Indalo is strengthening its project implementation capacity. The Project Intern will play an important role in supporting the coordination and administration of projects implemented under the ClimateWorks Foundation-supported programme.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Indalo project team and officials from the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA). The role will involve assisting with day-to-day project activities, coordinating meetings and workshops, tracking project deliverables, communicating with stakeholders, and supporting reporting processes. This internship offers excellent exposure to project implementation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and government programme coordination within the climate change and sustainability space.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- An undergraduate qualification (Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree) in Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Must be a resident of Mpumalanga.
- At least 12 months of experience in project administration, planning, or coordination support.
- Understanding of climate change or sustainability issues will be an advantage.
- Experience working with the public sector will be beneficial.
- Strong communication, organisational, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel locally when required.
- Ability to work effectively in a small, multicultural team environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Intern will provide administrative and technical support to ensure the successful implementation of project activities. Responsibilities will include coordinating project tasks, maintaining documentation, organising workshops and meetings, taking meeting minutes, and supporting reporting requirements. The intern will also assist with stakeholder engagement, communication materials, monitoring and evaluation activities, and research for case studies related to climate change and sustainable development.
Additionally, the role will involve supporting the organisation of training sessions, climate change forums, workshops, and knowledge-sharing events. The intern will also assist in reviewing provincial and municipal plans to help integrate climate change and Just Energy Transition initiatives into development planning.
