RST, a proud member of the Siyanda Group of Companies, is seeking two motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join its laboratory team as Sample Attendants on a fixed-term contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in science or analytical chemistry to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic plant environment.
About the Role
The Sample Attendant will assist the Laboratory team with the full spectrum of sampling operations, including sample collection, preparation, and analysis. The successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring that all materials processed in the plant are accurately sampled and that results meet the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Sample Attendants will be responsible for the sampling of all materials processed in the plant, as well as the collection of material samples in and around the facility. They will prepare samples in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and communicate any deviations to the Lab Head, assisting with root cause analysis to identify the source of non-conformance. Additionally, the successful candidates will be expected to perform risk assessments and ensure full adherence to health, safety, and quality standards and regulations at all times.
Requirements
Education
Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent, with Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects. A Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Metallurgy, or a related field will be a distinct advantage.
Experience
Candidates should have practical work experience with laboratory equipment and a sound understanding of basic scientific knowledge and calculations. Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols is essential.
