SARB Graduate Programme 2023
The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is inviting applications for its one-year Graduate Programme, set to commence in January 2023. This opportunity is designed for highly motivated and academically excellent postgraduates who are eager to build a career in central banking, financial regulation, and economic policy.
About the SARB
The SARB plays a critical role in maintaining the financial stability and economic well-being of South Africa. It is responsible for regulating the financial sector, managing inflation and interest rates, overseeing banking stability, and ensuring effective currency distribution. The Graduate Programme provides an opportunity for young professionals to contribute to these vital functions while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment.
Programme Structure
Graduates will work at the SARB’s Head Office from January to December 2023, where they will be assigned to various departments and exposed to practical tasks and projects. Throughout the year, participants will attend courses at the SARB Academy, covering essential topics in central banking, financial management, and policy-making. The programme also includes professional development workshops on skills such as public speaking, teamwork, report writing, and business etiquette.
Career Prospects
At the end of the programme, top-performing graduates may be offered permanent positions at the SARB. Candidates most likely to be selected for long-term employment will:

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the SARB Graduate Programme, applicants must:
- Hold a postgraduate degree.
- Have an average of at least 65% in their final year.
- Show a keen interest in financial services, policy development, and economic research.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be South African citizens.
Fields of Study Considered
The programme is open to graduates in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Statistics, Information Technology, Law, Mathematics, Project Management, Risk Management, and other related fields.
