The Role
As a Service Desk Intern, you will be part of a team responsible for providing first-line IT support to internal and external clients. You will handle queries, log and resolve incidents, and assist users with technical issues across hardware, software, and Office 365 platforms. This role is ideal for graduates who are customer-oriented, detail-focused, and ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced support environment.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- Completed a three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma, Diploma, or Degree) in Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Computer Science, or Computer Systems Engineering
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365
- No criminal record
- Currently unemployed and not enrolled in any other learnership or internship programme
- Not studying at any institution, including via distance learning
- Residing in the greater Midrand area — relocation will not be considered
- Under the age of 35 as of 1 May 2026
- South African citizen (African, White, Coloured, or Indian)
Certifications
Candidates who hold the following certifications will be at an advantage:
- CompTIA A+ (international certification)
- Microsoft Excel certification
- ITIL v3 Foundation Certification (optional but advantageous)
Core Competencies
Gijima is looking for candidates who demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers. You should be a strong team player with resilience, meticulous attention to detail, and solid problem-solving ability. Good time management and organisational skills are essential, as is a genuine customer-first mindset.
