Pump and Abrasion Technologies (PABT) is seeking a dynamic Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing team in Centurion. As a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and assembly of heavy-duty slurry pumps, we’re looking for an ambitious engineering graduate ready to launch their career in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to bridge the gap between cutting-edge engineering and customer-focused sales. Based at our Centurion Head Office, you’ll work alongside experienced Sales representatives, providing critical technical expertise that drives business success. Your role will involve regular site visits (3-4 days per period) with company transport provided, giving you hands-on experience across diverse mining and industrial applications.

As our Technical Sales Engineer, you’ll be challenged daily to design innovative pump system solutions tailored to unique customer requirements. From initial specifications to on-site troubleshooting, you’ll own the technical aspects of projects from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities will span the entire customer journey:

• Solution Design: Select and specify optimal pump configurations based on customer applications, process requirements, and operational constraints
• Technical Consulting: Guide clients through complex technical decisions, translating their needs into practical pumping solutions
• Proposal Development: Compile comprehensive technical reports and proposals that clearly communicate value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• On-Site Support: Provide installation assistance, conduct system analysis, and perform root cause investigations when issues arise
• Sales Collaboration: Partner with our Sales team to present solutions and close deals, combining technical credibility with commercial awareness
• Quality Assurance: Maintain consistently high standards in customer support and technical documentation

Who You Are

We’re looking for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a “do whatever it takes” attitude. You bring:

Essential Qualifications:

• B.Eng or BSc.Eng degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering
• 0-2 years of professional experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel and live out 3-4 days weekly

Key Competencies:

• Strong mechanical and process engineering fundamentals
• Exceptional attention to detail with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
• Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
• Excellent organizational abilities for managing files, documentation, and project records
• Self-motivated approach with ability to take ownership and work independently

Advantageous:

• Previous experience with pumps, slurry handling, or mining applications
