This is your chance to build a meaningful technical career at the forefront of South Africa’s renewable energy revolution.
About the Role
The Graduate Trainee Site Technician will participate in the installation and commissioning of wind turbines at a designated Goldwind Wind Farm project. Embedded within Goldwind’s structured training programme, this role provides hands-on exposure to turbine assembly, site operations, and compliance standards — laying the foundation for a long-term career in the renewable energy sector.
This is a contract, on-site position based in Mpumalanga.
Key Responsibilities
Installation Support
As a Trainee Site Technician, you will assist senior technicians and contractors with turbine erection, mechanical assembly, and electrical connections. You will support lifting operations, bolt tightening, cable routing, and component alignment under supervision, while participating in commissioning activities that include system checks and functional testing. Proper use of installation tools, equipment, and safety gear is expected at all times.
Site Operations
You will monitor installation progress and report any deviations or issues to supervisors promptly. Additional responsibilities include assisting with logistics for turbine components, spare parts, and consumables, maintaining accurate installation records — including daily logs, checklists, and incident reports — and supporting coordination between site teams, contractors, and project managers.
Safety and Compliance
Goldwind places the highest priority on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. As a Trainee Site Technician, you will be expected to follow all HSE protocols during installation and actively participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and emergency drills. A proactive and responsible attitude toward site safety is non-negotiable.
Training and Development
This role is structured around your growth. You will engage in Goldwind’s dedicated training modules covering turbine technology, installation procedures, and site safety. You will shadow experienced technicians and engineers to gain practical, real-world knowledge, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on installation processes, and progressively advance toward independent technician responsibilities through structured mentorship.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is ideally suited to a recent graduate with a background in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy engineering, or a related technical field. You should be eager to learn, physically capable of working in an on-site wind farm environment, and committed to building a career in the clean energy space.
Why Goldwind
Goldwind offers a world-class training environment, exposure to cutting-edge wind turbine technology, and a genuine pathway to a long-term technical career. Joining Goldwind means contributing to a greener, more sustainable South Africa.
