WesBank, one of South Africa’s most respected vehicle and asset finance institutions and a proud member of the FirstRand Group, is offering a structured 12-month learnership programme for unemployed young graduates based in the Fairlands area of Randburg, Gauteng. This is a meaningful opportunity for ambitious young South Africans who are ready to take their first step into the working world with the support of a leading financial services brand behind them.

The WesBank Learnership Programme was specifically designed to bridge the gap between academic achievement and real-world employability. South Africa faces a significant youth unemployment challenge, and WesBank has committed to being part of the solution by creating structured entry points for young graduates who have the qualifications but lack the experience that most employers demand. This programme gives successful candidates exactly that — genuine, hands-on workplace exposure combined with a formal learnership qualification, all within a professional banking environment.

Over the course of the 12 months, participants will be immersed in the operational functions of the business. Day-to-day responsibilities will include performing a range of operational duties that expose learners to the workings of a major financial institution. Beyond the practical work experience, the learnership curriculum is designed to address economic, administrative, and psycho-social barriers that often prevent young people from successfully starting and sustaining careers or business ventures. Participants will have the opportunity to apply theoretical learning directly in the workplace — making this a truly integrated learning and working experience rather than a passive training programme.

The monthly stipend of R12,387.00 provides participants with financial stability throughout the programme, allowing them to focus fully on their development without the added pressure of financial insecurity.

Who Should Apply

WesBank is looking for unemployed South African graduates between the ages of 18 and 34 who meet the following criteria:

You must be a South African citizen currently unemployed and not enrolled in any formal studies. You must hold a Matric certificate alongside a post-matric qualification or degree. Critically, this opportunity is designed for candidates with little or no formal work experience — a total of less than twelve months in the workplace, which may be part-time or casual in nature. This must represent your first formal job experience. Candidates who have previously participated in the FirstJob programme at any FirstRand franchise, or who have previously been employed by FirstRand, are not eligible to apply.

Additional requirements include a good command of the English language, a clean criminal record, and no blacklisting. Candidates must also be willing and committed to pursuing the learnership qualification alongside their workplace duties for the full duration of the programme.

Important: Applicants are required to record a voice note as part of the application screening process. This step is compulsory and applications without a voice note will not be considered.
