Mondi South Africa is inviting applications for its Work Integrated Learning Programme, an exciting opportunity for aspiring professionals seeking to build a career in the Pulp and Paper industry. This 6-month fixed-term programme is based in Durban and Richards Bay and is designed to equip participants with essential industry skills, practical knowledge, and experience that align with Mondi’s future talent needs.

The programme aims to support the development of entry-level operators through structured training and hands-on experience. Upon successful completion, participants will be deemed competent to operate at an entry-level position in the organisation, contributing meaningfully to our operations and growth.

Minimum requirements for the programme include a Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Technology, with a minimum 60% average pass rate. Candidates who have completed P1 and P2 practical work experience in a heavy industry environment will have an added advantage. A valid South African driver’s license is also required.

Participants will be expected to demonstrate basic proficiency in SAP and Microsoft tools, possess sound knowledge of chemical safety, and be able to perform entry-level production tasks. These tasks include housekeeping, assisting with plant start-ups and shutdowns, conducting routine checks to reduce equipment failure, and ensuring safe and effective process operations. You will also engage with production teams to identify and resolve equipment performance issues and participate in basic troubleshooting efforts.

Outcomes of the programme include gaining proficiency in process operation, safety compliance, equipment handling, and continuous improvement practices. Participants will also be expected to complete daily checklists and reports related to their assigned responsibilities.
