Planning Stream | Buying Stream (Apparel) | Buying Stream (Homeware)
Location: Mr Price Group Head Office, Durban | Duration: 22 June – 10 July 2026
Mr Price Group, one of South Africa’s most iconic retail brands, is opening its doors to ambitious students through its Workplace Experience Programme (WEP) 2026. This is not a passive classroom exercise — it is a working interview, a career test drive, and a genuine opportunity to demonstrate your potential to one of the country’s leading retail groups. If you are a final-year or postgraduate student with a hunger to learn and the drive to prove yourself, Mr Price wants to meet you.
What Is the Workplace Experience Programme?
The WEP is a structured, immersive work experience initiative hosted at Mr Price Group’s Head Office in Durban. Running from Monday, 22 June to Friday, 10 July 2026, the programme places selected students — known as WEPians — inside real business teams, working on real challenges. It is designed to give you meaningful exposure to retail career paths while simultaneously giving Mr Price Group the opportunity to identify exceptional talent for the future.
Three streams are available for 2026:
Planning Stream
Retail planning sits at the heart of any successful merchandise operation. In this stream, WEPians gain exposure to Merchandise Planning and Location Planning — understanding how product ranges are built, how stock is allocated across stores, and how data drives commercial decisions. This stream is suited to students studying towards qualifications in Business Science, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Strategic Management, BCom Supply Chain, or Retail Management.
Buying Stream — Apparel
The Apparel Buying stream offers insight into the world of fashion merchandise and product buying. WEPians get a behind-the-scenes look at how clothing ranges are curated and brought to market. This stream is open to students studying Fashion Design, Clothing Management, Consumer Science in Clothing Retail Management, Fashion Production, Fashion Buying, or Textile Design.
Buying Stream — Homeware
The Homeware Buying stream follows the same commercial principles as the Apparel stream but within the homeware and lifestyle product category. Students studying Interior Design, Consumer Science in Clothing Retail, or Textile Management are encouraged to apply.
Who Should Apply?
WEPians are typically in their final year of a three-year undergraduate degree or diploma, or are currently completing Honours-level postgraduate studies. Across all three streams, Mr Price is looking for individuals who are curious, commercially minded, and ready to engage seriously with the world of retail.
Why Mr Price?
Mr Price Group is a multi-brand retail powerhouse with a presence across South Africa and beyond. A WEP placement puts you inside a dynamic, fast-paced head office environment where learning is accelerated and the people you work alongside are among the best in the business. Many WEPians have gone on to build lasting careers within the group — this could be your starting point.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Do not delay.
