Marula Mine is seeking motivated and driven individuals to join its Engineering Learnership Programme. This is a structured, hands-on training opportunity designed to develop the next generation of qualified artisans across multiple engineering disciplines. Purpose of the Role

The successful candidates will be trained towards becoming qualified artisans through a formal Learnership programme. Learners will be exposed to both theoretical and practical engineering training, working under the supervision of experienced artisans and foremen while gaining real-world skills in a working mine environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must hold a Grade 12 / STD 10 / NQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of N2 with four complete subjects, or an NCV Level 4 qualification relevant to the trade they are applying for.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a knowledge assessment, psychometric assessment, and attend a formal interview. A medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket) and Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS) will also be required prior to placement.

Key Performance Areas

Learners accepted into the programme will be responsible for the following:

  • Undergoing structured training towards qualification as an artisan within a recognised learnership framework
  • Assisting qualified artisans in performing technical work including fixing, replacing, and maintaining equipment using sound engineering principles
  • Completing all phases of engineering training, both on-the-job and off-the-job, to qualify as a fully certified artisan
  • Familiarising themselves with Marula Mine rules, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance with organisational best practices and relevant legislation
  • Working effectively and diligently under the guidance of an allocated coach in a supervised environment
  • Conducting basic fault diagnosis, problem-solving, and reporting
  • Maintaining engineering equipment efficiently to help prevent production losses
  • Acting as a supervisor with limited authority as part of gaining early leadership and supervision skills
