Luhlaza Advisory and Consulting (Pty) Ltd is a niche Earth Sciences consultancy delivering geotechnical, geological, and geohydrological solutions across Southern Africa and beyond. Operating at the intersection of critical infrastructure, mining, water, and environmental sectors, Luhlaza is driven by technical excellence, innovation, and a deep commitment to developing the next generation of Earth Sciences professionals.

The company is now inviting applications from recently graduated BSc Honours holders for a 24-month fixed-term internship programme based across its Johannesburg and Durban offices. This is not a passive learning experience — interns at Luhlaza are embedded into active project teams from day one, working alongside seasoned consultants on assignments that carry genuine technical and social impact.

Internship Streams Available

Applications are open across three disciplines: Geology, Engineering Geology, and Geohydrology. Candidates may apply in the stream that best aligns with their academic background and professional interests.

What You Will Be Doing

As an intern at Luhlaza, your days will be varied, hands-on, and intellectually demanding. You will assist with geotechnical and geohydrological investigations, support core logging, drilling supervision, and geological mapping activities, and help compile field reports while managing samples and coordinating field schedules. You will also be responsible for capturing, organising, and analysing field and laboratory data, contributing to proposal preparation, and engaging in real-world problem-solving alongside multidisciplinary teams spanning geology, geohydrology, laboratory, and engineering functions.

The role requires both office-based and field-based engagement, and interns must be prepared to travel locally and internationally as project demands require.

What You Will Gain

Luhlaza offers far more than a title on your CV. Interns receive structured mentorship and technical training from experienced Earth Sciences practitioners, gain meaningful exposure to active consulting projects with real-world outcomes, and develop a strong multidisciplinary foundation that positions them for long-term careers in the geosciences consulting sector. The programme is designed to fast-track your transition from academic graduate to field-ready consultant.

Who Should Apply

To be considered, candidates must hold a BSc Honours degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geohydrology, and must be South African citizens in possession of a valid Code 8 driver’s licence. Solid communication skills, computer literacy across Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a genuine willingness to work across multiple disciplines are essential. Above all, Luhlaza is looking for individuals with a growth mindset — curious, adaptable, and ready to be challenged.

How to Apply

The closing date for applications is 25 May 2026. Submit your CV together with certified copies of your relevant qualifications, academic records, valid ID, and driver’s licence to info@luhlazaconsulting.co.za. Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted.
