Gijima, one of South Africa’s leading technology companies, is offering 50 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) internship placements to IT students who need to complete their practical training component in order to qualify for their three-year tertiary qualification. This is a six-month programme based in Gauteng, Midrand, running from March to June 2026.
About the Programme
The Gijima WIL Internship Programme is designed to give IT students the workplace experience required by their institution to complete their diploma or degree. Interns will be immersed in a professional technology environment, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world IT operations and building the skills that employers in the sector look for. With 50 positions on offer, this is one of the largest single WIL intakes in the Gauteng IT space this year.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is open to students who are currently enrolled in a three-year IT qualification and require WIL in order to graduate. Qualifying fields of study include, but are not limited to:
- Communications Networks
- Informatics
- Computer Systems Engineering
- BSc Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Multi-media Computing
- Diploma in Information Technology
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Currently studying towards a three-year IT qualification that requires WIL for completion
- In possession of a formal WIL recommendation letter from their tertiary institution (pre-WIL letters will not be accepted)
- In possession of their latest academic results, stamped by the institution and recently certified
- No criminal record
- Currently unemployed
- Not participating in any other learnership or internship programme
- Completed Matric with English and Mathematics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Currently residing in Gauteng (relocation is not offered)
- Between the ages of 18 and 35 as of 1 July 2026
- A South African citizen
