As an Engineering Trainee Operative, you will invest your time and energy into product training and on-the-job experience in mining machine rebuilds and maintenance. The programme is structured to give trainees comprehensive exposure to Sandvik products, equipping them with the competencies required to complete a trade test and become competitive professionals in the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities

Trainees will be expected to attend and perform work as directed while maintaining professional and courteous conduct at all times. You will follow all lawful instructions, observe the relevant employment agreement, and actively work toward achieving the competencies outlined in your training plan. Keeping your training record updated and completing your trade logbook are essential parts of the role. The programme culminates in trade test preparation and the trade test itself.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is open to candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science, or an equivalent qualification
  • Minimum N3 Engineering Studies — this is compulsory
  • Institutional training in one of the following trades: Electrician, Diesel Mechanic, or Fitter — also compulsory
  • Physically and medically fit to work in a mining environment, including meeting all applicable vaccination requirements

Candidates from or based in Secunda, Ogies, Middelburg, Ulundi, Witbank, Delmas, and Piet Retief will receive preference during the selection process.

Positions are available across Kempton Park, Mpumalanga, and Secunda.
