About the Role
As an IT Support Intern, you will be embedded within Herotel’s Information Technology team, contributing directly to the daily operations of the IT service desk. You will handle a variety of technical support tasks, assist with equipment deployment, and help maintain the integrity of critical business systems. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented student who is passionate about technology and eager to make a meaningful contribution from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on computer and printer support to business users across the organisation
- Maintain antivirus software across all machines to ensure ongoing system security
- Perform backups of critical systems and assist with network maintenance tasks
- Configure network devices and set up laptops and equipment for deployment
- Attend to all allocated tasks and tickets on the QContact system, prioritising by urgency and impact
- Accept, log, and follow up on technical support emails and calls received by the IT Department
- Support the Service Desk team with software installations, inventory management, and printer troubleshooting
- Ensure all tasks are seen through to successful completion and sign-off
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (minimum qualification)
- Currently studying towards an IT-related Diploma or Degree
- Practical experience in installing, configuring, and setting up laptops and devices
- Strong computer and application skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and related tools
- Technical certifications such as A+, N+, AZ-900, or AZ-104 will be advantageous
- High sense of integrity, accountability, and commitment to quality work
- Strong work ethic with a collaborative, team-player mindset
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive approach to problem determination and resolution
- Keen attention to detail and a genuine willingness to learn
