Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This exceptional mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised, state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future.” Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for Artisan Learnership opportunities forming part of this major project development.
This is an excellent opportunity for young South Africans seeking to qualify as artisans within the mining and engineering sector, gaining structured training and practical experience at one of the country’s most technologically advanced mining developments.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science passed at a minimum of 60%, together with an N2 qualification in an engineering field of study.

The learnership programme covers specialised technical qualifications relevant to the Ivanplats Mine across the following trades:
- Auto Electrician
- Boilermaker
- Diesel Mechanic
- Fitter & Turner
- Instrumentation
- Mechanical Fitter
- Millwright
- Rigger
Programme Duration and Conditions
- Successful candidates will be enrolled in the learnership programme for a maximum period of 3 years, or until receipt of their Trade qualification, whichever occurs first.
- Candidates must be willing to work both underground and on surface across all mining operations relevant to their qualification.
- Applicants must pass the relevant medical fitness examination.
- Candidates must be willing to undergo the relevant capability assessment process.

Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) from local communities surrounding the Ivanplats Platreef Mine, as well as to women candidates. Applications are open exclusively to South African Citizens and Permanent RSA Residents.
