Automation Control Solutions (ACS) is a leading provider of Process Control Instrumentation across Southern Africa, representing Emerson Automation Solutions across Southern and Eastern Africa. We are looking for a Trainee Systems Technician to join our Installed Base Services team in Sasolburg.

This is an entry-level opportunity for a graduate or junior technician who wants to build a career in DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS), field instrumentation, and process control support. You will work under supervision to gain hands-on competency in DeltaV DCS hardware, software configuration, cabinet design principles, and system diagnostics, while completing structured Emerson training.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Emerson DeltaV Field Service Supervisory training within one year
• Study Emerson DCS hardware and software capabilities and best practices
• Learn DeltaV fault-finding, maintenance, and diagnostic principles
• Build an understanding of DCS software layers and how systems control a plant
• Provide fault-finding support on software objects under supervision
• Assist with maintenance and diagnostics reports for customers
• Support call-outs and breakdowns under supervision
• Complete assigned monthly SLA hours under supervision
• Identify opportunities to enhance ACS’s service and sales offerings to customers

Minimum Requirements

A Diploma or National Diploma in Engineering in one of the following fields:

• Process Control Engineering
• Electronic Engineering
• Computer Systems Engineering
• Electrical Computer Systems
• Electrical, Electronics and Communication
• Electrical Process Instrumentation

Experience (advantageous, not essential)

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and MS Server 2016/19, including OS installation and PC hardware/BIOS setup
• Basic software configuration skills in V-Basic, Python, MATLAB, or C++
• DCS, PLC, or SCADA exposure (DeltaV experience an advantage)
• Electrical wiring experience
• Instrumentation knowledge
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
• Report writing skills
