Both programmes are built around hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to real projects within one of the industry’s most established equipment providers.
1. Engineering Graduate Intern
Based within Komatsu’s Remanufacturing department in Germiston, this training role provides a solid foundation in engineering principles through practical application. Trainees are introduced to Komatsu’s KAfH methodologies and the company’s broader operating culture, working within the framework of SLQDC (Safety, Legal, Quality, Delivery, Cost) and the Komatsu Way.
What the Role Involves
- Structured on-the-job training aligned with each stage of the programme
- Drafting own project and assignment progress reports
- Rotational placements across the remanufacturing facility, suppliers, and customer sites
- Exposure to the mining, construction, and mobile equipment industry
Qualifications and Requirements
- BSc Degree or B-Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency in MS Office

- Teamwork, active listening, results orientation, openness to feedback, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to prioritise work and execute to standard

2. Engineering Intern: Mining Engineering
Based at Komatsu’s Head Office in Germiston, this internship gives graduate trainees hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development within the mining industry. Interns work on cutting-edge projects, developing practical skills while contributing to the company’s operational success.
What the Role Involves
- Hands-on exposure to mining engineering projects at Head Office
- Mentorship from experienced professionals
- Structured development building long-term technical and industry competence
- Contribution to live projects supporting Komatsu’s mining operations
Qualifications and Requirements
- B Tech or BA Degree in Mining Engineering
- No prior experience required
- Valid driver’s licence required
